About

Our practice is devoted to supporting people to embrace their imperfections, find their self worth, and celebrate what makes them authentically YOUnique. I wanted to bring clients a YOUnique therapeutic opportunity to discover their self-worth, their inner strength, their values and personal resilience. I want EVERY client to know that they are enough just as they are and absolutely worthy of love, belonging and deep connection.

By exploring, pulling apart and unpacking how the shackles of shame prevent us from connecting with ourselves and others. Shame shields like people pleasing, perfecting, performing numbing. Comparing all interrupts our ability to set boundaries with ourselves and often we find ourselves either hiding in the bedroom with a tub of ice cream or telling the world to piss off! You see the problem is the shackles of shame have two powerful forces ~ 1 – The voice that tells us “You are not good enough, smart enough, pretty enough, skinny enough, fit enough, professional enough, educated enough,  and if we can fight that battle on the other side of the shame shackle is ~ 2. Who do you think you are? Look at you getting to big for your boots”.

My role is to empower you to understand and accept that you are enough. It is my passion to help you realise that you are so much more than enough, this work will set you free from the shackles, transform your thinking and put the sparkle back in your life.

Wholehearted living is about engaging with our lives from a place of worthiness. It means cultivating the courage, compassion and connection to wake up in the morning and think, ‘No matter what gets done and how much is left undone, I am enough’. It’s going to bed at night thinking, ‘Yes, I am imperfect and vulnerable and sometimes afraid, but that doesn’t change the truth that I am also brave and worth of love and belonging’.

– Brenè Brown, The Gifts of Imperfection

My Story

You see I kinda know a thing or two about sparkles. I lost mine a long time ago to clinical depression & anxiety! What I realised was I was constantly being a peace maker by proving, pleasing, perfecting and performing for others. This inauthentic lifestyle led me to feelings of not being good enough and certainly not worthy of love and belonging. I was tired, overworked, overwhelmed, overloaded and pretty much OVER IT! Unpacking my story of struggle led me to start to understand and accept my story. All of the chapters of my story. The tears, the truth, the denial, the tantrums (mine & my families), the bickering and the blame, the sadness and sorrow. The Up’s and the Down’s. You see we get so caught up in our lives and our relationships as mothers, daughters, sisters, wives, girlfriends that slowly after time our sparkles fade because we haven’t nurtured them and we end up losing ourselves and wondering what the hell we are doing here?

As the universe would have it, my story of struggle, transformed into a story of Hope and only when I was brave enough to look within myself could I find the inner strength to recover. Only when I embraced self – acceptance, patience, reflection, being open to therapy, love, openness, self-forgiveness, and self-compassion along with putting on my big girl pants could I start to retrieve the sparkles that I had lost to mental illness.

Fighting my way back I was able to embrace my body, embrace my imperfections, embrace my values, embrace vulnerability and shame riddled traits to make way for the most glorious healing of my tired and mean self. I sparkle brighter than now than I have ever before because I have embraced! Will you?

With our collections and Brené Brown’s guidepost shining the way through ~ The Gifts of Imperfection, The Daring Way™ and Rising Strong™ processes you will embrace new tools and skills that will support you to cultivate self-compassion, courage, empathy and an ability to nurture yourself. Your life will be filled with more compassion, empathy, gratitude, authenticity, creativity, joy and connection. Dare to journey with me and learn how to transform your story of struggle into your story of wholeheartedness.

ABOUT OUR COLLECTIONS

My Manifesto

This is my manifesto – this is what I live by! I had so much fun designing it. Book in today to create your very own manifesto!

I stand and embrace Peace, Love, Kindness and Forgiveness.

I am most curious about people and the world and how amazingly beautiful Mother Nature is.

I must do something about the critics, reminding myself constantly of comparison and hustling for my worthiness. Don’t go small, Don’t puff up, hold your SACRED ground and be you.

I am most passionate about helping others to find their sparkles. I am here to embrace my creative side, to empower others to live a life that has true meaning for them. I bring connection by laughter, support, healing, doing hard stuff, listening to Arena Anthem Albums, psycho education, spreading Kindness likes it’s confetti, soaking my skin in Glittery Sparkles, bringing Joy, being grateful and having FUN.

I have the courage to put my big girl’s pants on and stay true to my values even when it’s awkward, annoying and uncomfortable. I have the courage to start Embrace Peer Consulting, Counselling and Training and believe in my abilities to make a positive difference to those who I connect with.

I love my husband, my girls, my parents, my family and my friends. I love Warburton, Bright and the Beach. I love furry creatures, particularly horses.

In my heart of hearts, I know that I am meant for this work – the heart work with humans – this is my purpose. I am both a teacher and a student.

I am on this planet to love and nurture human relationships by creating and supporting connection between people. I will use this gift to empower and illuminate others.

I will love myself by being kind and gentle with myself. I will practice self-nurturing by taking time out and holding the hope for others and myself when things get messy. I will stop and smell the roses and know that the universe has it worked out for me.

I will dare greatly by embracing who I am, embracing my values, embracing those I love deeply without hesitation. I will dare greatly by being Brave, Showing up and Being seen!

My Values

KINDNESS

Kindness is my number 1 value because it is at the core of what I believe to be my truth. It’s something that most of us are accustom to practicing Self Kindness is imperative life skill as is Kindness to others.

COURAGE

Having the courage to accept the things I can and can’t change is an important part of any life journey. Ordinary courage – being brave and seen in meetings, in relationships, at work, in a group setting, at school or in a social setting. Daring Greatly and being brave are skills that have been life changing.

INTEGRITY

Brene Brown’s definition of Integrity is my final core value as  I continue to choose courage over comfort, choosing what is right over what is fun, fast or easy and choosing to practice my values rather than professing them.

My Qualifications

I have worked in the Mental Health and AOD sector since 2007. I started my career as a Peer Practitioner at the Raphael Centre after realising my passion for helping others experiencing Post Natal Depression. I then transitioned into Community Mental Health Services and worked at Mind Australia. Syndi worked with a diverse range of clients and has supported clients who have experienced trauma, family violence, anxiety, depression, addiction, grief and loss, low self-esteem, feelings of being stuck, feeling unworthy, unlovable and not enough.

I have a university degree in Community Mental Health Alcohol and other Drugs (AOD) which led me to Dr. Brene Browns work and the discovery of my persistence perfectionist tendencies! (So grateful to be a “Recovering Perfectionist”

After completing my university degree I was accepted into the Daring Way Certification program and feel incredibly grateful and humble to be able to do this work with clients.

My other great passion is teaching. I completed the Certificate IV Training and Assessment qualification (TAE40116). I love working at our local TAFE delivering the Certificate IV Mental Health, AOD and Counselling.
